Kenzaburo Oe (1935-2023)

Awarded the Prize “for who with poetic force creates an imagined world, where life myth condense to form a disconcerting picture of the human predicament today.”

Japanese novelist. Oe was born in the isl of Shikoku on January 31, 1935. He won an admission to the University of Tokyo, where he studied French literature received his B.A. in 1959. His first novel appeared in 1958. He had been a visiting professor at the Colegio de México, Mexico City in 1976, the University of California at Berkely. Mr. Kenzaburo Oe passed away on March 3rd, 2023 in Japan.
