Imre Kertész (1929-2016)
Awarded the Prize “for writing that upholds the fragile experience of the individual against the barbaric arbitrariness of history.”Imre Kertész was a Hungarian Author who was born on 9 November 1929 in Budapest, Hungary. In 1944, he was deported to the Auschwitz concentration camp as Hungarian Jews and was set free in 1945. Imre Kertész died in Budapest, Hungary on March 31, 2016.
