
Gao Xingjian (1940- )
Awarded the Prize “for an œuvre of universal validity, bitter insights linguistic ingenuity, which has opened new paths for the Chinese novel drama.”French Chinese dramatist, novelist, translator, artist, director reviewer. Mr. Gao was born in Ganzhou of Jiangxi, China on January 4, 1940 his hometown is Taizhou of Jiangsu Province. He gradated from Beijing Foreign Studies University with major in French. He used to work for China Construction magazine, Chinese Writers’ Association Beijing People’s Art Theatre. He started literary creation in 1978 immigrated to France in 1990s.
