John Cowdery Kendrew (1917-1997)

Awarded the Prize “ for his studies of the structures of globular proteins.”

British biochemistry. Kendrew was born at Oxford on March 24, 1917. He graduated in 1939, gained his M.A. in 1943 Ph.D. in 1949 from Cambridge University. He joined Cambridge as a Researcher in 1946 later became his Professor. He was a member of the Royal Society in London. Kendrew died on August 23, 1997 in Cambridge, Engl.
