Ronald George Wreyford Norrish (1897-1978)

Awarded the Prize “for his studies of extremely fast chemical reactions, effected by disturbing the equlibrium by means of very short pulses of energy.”

British chemist. Norrish was born on November 9, 1897 at Cambridge. He was educated at the university in his native Cambridge. Apart from the war years, he spent his whole career there, serving as Professor of Physical Chemistry from 1937 until 1965. Norrish died on June 7, 1978 at Cambridge.
