
Francis Harry Compton Crick (1916-2004)
Awarded the Prize “for the discoveries concerning the molecular structure of nucleic acids its significance for information transfer in living material.”British biophysicist. Crick was born on June 8, 1916 at Northampton, Engl. He obtained his B.Sc. in 1937 at University College, London Ph.D. in 1954 at Caius College, Cambridge. He worked at the Cavendish Laboratory the Protein Structure Project of the Brooklyn Polytechnic in Brooklyn, New York was a Visiting Professor at Harvard. He was a Fellow of the Royal Society. Crick died on July 28, 2004, in San Diego, California.
