
James Dewey Watson (1928-2025)
Awarded the Prize “for the discoveries concerning the molecular structure of nucleic acids its significance for information transfer in living material.”American biologist. Watson was born in Chicago on April 6, 1928. In 1947, he received his B.Sc. degree in the University of Chicago and received his Ph.D. at Indiana University in 1950. He once worked at the Cavendish Laboratory. He was a Senior Research Fellow at California Institute of Technology. In 1956 he went to Harvard, becoming a professor in 1961. Watson died on November 6, 2025 in New York, USA.
