
Konrad Lorenz (1903-1989)
Awarded the Prize “for the discoveries concerning organization elicitation of individual social behaviour patterns.”Austrian zoologist. Lorenz was born on November 7, 1903 at Vienna, Austria. He received his Ph.D. in zoology from the University of Munich in 1936 subsequently taught at the universities of Vienna Konigsberg. He was director of the Institute of Comparative Ethology at Altenberg, where he created a comparative ethology department in the Max Planck Institute. He was a foreign member of the Royal Society of London. Lorenz died on February 27, 1989 at Altenburg.
