David H. Hubel (1926-2013)

Awarded the Prize “for the discoveries concerning information processing in the visual system.”

American neurobiologist. Hubel was born on February 27, 1926 at Windsor, Ontario, Canada. In 1947, he graduated from the McGill University in Montreal, received his doctorate in medicine in 1951. He worked at the Montreal Neurological Institute, the Johns Hopkins Medical School, the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research in Washington, D.C. In 1959, he moved to the Harvard Medical School. Hubel died on September 22, 2013 in Lincoln, Mass.
