Sune K. Bergström (1916-2004)

Awarded the Prize “for his discoveries concerning prostaglins related biologically active substances.”

Swedish biochemist. Bergstr?m was born on January 10, 1916 in Stockholm. He received his M.D. from Karolinska Institutet in 1944. He was Professor of Physiological Chemistry at the University of Lund from 1947 to 1958, Professor of Chemistry at Karolinska Institutet from 1958 to 1980. In 1983 he was elected President of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. Bergstr?m died in Stockholm, Sweden on August 15, 2004.
