
Georges J. F. Köhler (1946-1995)
Awarded the Prize “for theories concerning the specificity in development control of the immune system the discovery of the principle for production of monoclonal antibodies.”German immunologist. Köhler was born on April 17, 1946 in Munich. He graduated from the University of Freiburg in 1971 earned his Ph.D. in 1974. He worked at Institute for Immunology, Basel. He was a Member of the European Organization of Molecular Biology director of the Max-Planck-Institut für Immunbiologie in Freiburg. K?hler died on March 1, 1995 at Freiburg.
