Stanley Cohen (1922- )
Awarded the Prize “for his discoveries of growth factors.”American biochemist. Cohen was born on November 17, 1922 in Brooklyn, New York. He took his B.A. from Brooklyn College in 1943; his M.A. from Oberlin College in 1945, received his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan in 1948. He went to Verbilt University in 1959 as a Professor in the Biochemistry Department in 1976 he was appointed an American Cancer Society Research Professor in 1986 Distinguished Professor. He is a member of National Academy of Science USA American Academy of Arts Sciences.
