Alfred G. Gilman (1941-2015)
Awarded the Prize “for his discovery of G-proteins the role of these proteins in signal transduction in cells.”American pharmacologist. Gilman was born on July 1, 1941 at New Haven, Connecticut. He graduated from Yale University in 1962 received his Ph.D. from Case Western Reserve University in 1969. After working at the University of Virginia Medical School from 1971 until 1981, he moved to the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Centre, Dallas, where he became professor of pharmacology. Gilman died on December 23, 2015 in Dallas, Texas, USA.
