Martin Rodbell (1925-1998)
Awarded the Prize “for his discovery of G-proteins the role of these proteins in signal transduction in cells.”American biochemist. Rodbell was born on December 1, 1925 at Baltimore, Maryl. He graduated from Johns Hopkins University in 1949 gained his Ph.D. in 1954 at the University of Washington. He first worked at the National Institute of Health, Bethesda, Maryl. In 1985 he was appointed Scientific Director of the National Institute for Environmental Health Sciences, North Carolina. Rodbell died on December 7, 1998, Chapel Hill, North Caroline.
