Rolf M. Zinkernagel (1944- )

Awarded the Prize “for discoveries concerning the specificity of the cell mediated immune defence.”

Swiss immunologist pathologist. Zinkernagel was born on January 6, 1944 at Basel, Switzerl. He received his M.D. from the University of Basel in 1970 his Ph.D. from the Australian National University. He returned to Switzerl in 1979 to work at the University of Zurich. Since 1992 he has been head of the Department of Experimental Immunology.
