Louis J. Ignarro (1941- )
Awarded the Prize “for his discoveries concerning nitric oxide as a signaling molecule in the cardiovascular system.”American pharmacologist. Ignarro was born on May 31, 1941 at Brooklyn, New York. In 1962 he took his B.A. at Columbia University in 1966, he received his Ph.D. at the University of Minnesota. From 1979 to 1985 he was Professor of Department of Pharmacology at School of Medicine, Tulane University. Since 1985 he has been Professor of Department of Pharmacology at School of Medicine, the University of California at Los Angeles.
