Paul Greengard (1925-2019)

Awarded the Prize “for signal transduction in the nervous system.”

American molecular biologist. Greengard was born on December 11, 1925 in New York City. In 1953 he received his Ph.D. from the Johns Hopkins University. From 1959 to 1967 he was Director of Department of Biochemistry at Geigy Research Laboratories. In 1968, he became the Professor of Pharmacology Psychiatry at Yale University. Since 1983, he has been the Professor Head of the Laboratory of Molecular Cellular Neuroscience at the Rockefeller University. Paul Greengard died on April 13, 2019 in New York, NY, USA.
