Sydney Brenner (1927-2019)

Awarded the Prize “for the discovery concerning genetic regulation of organ development programmed cell death.”

Brenner was a South African biologist who was born on 13 January 1927 in Germiston, South Africa. In 1951 he graduated from the University of the Witwatersr, South Africa with a s degree, then gained his doctorate degree from Oxford University in 1954. He worked inThe Molecular Sciences Institute, Berkeley, CA, USA. Sydney Brenner died on April 5, 2019 in Singapore.
