Paul C. Lauterbur (1929 -2007)

Awarded the Prize “for the discovery concerning magnetic resonance imaging.”

Paul C. Lauterbur was an American chemist who was born on 6 May 1929 in Ohio, USA. In 1951, he received his BS from Case Institute of Technology in Clevel, which is now known as Case Western Reserve University. In 1962, he graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with PhD of Chemistry. He conducted his work at State University of New York at Stony Brook Campus, then he served as the Director of MRI Lab in University of Illinois. He died on 27 March 2007 in Urbana, Illinois, USA.
