Richard Axel (1946- )
Awarded the Prize “for the discovery of odorant receptors the organization of the olfactory system.”Richard Axel is an American Medical scientist who was born on 2 July 1946 in New York City, USA. He graduated from Columbia University a PhD of Medicine from the Johns Hopikins University, School of Medicine in 1970. He is now the Professor of biochemistry, molecular biophysics pathology in Columbia University, Howard Hughes Medical Institute.
