Linda B. Buck (1947- )

Awarded the Prize “for the discovery of odorant receptors the organization of the olfactory system.”

Lina B. Buck is an American biologist who was born on 29 January 1947 in Seattle, USA. Buck received her B.S. in psychology microbiology in 1975 from the University of Washington, Seattle her Ph.D. in immunology in 1980 from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. She did her post-doctoral work at Columbia University from 1980 to 1984. She is a Full Member of the Basic Sciences Division at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, an Affiliate Professor of Physiology Biophysics at the University of Washington, Seattle an Investigator of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. She is a member of the National Academy of Sciences USA.
