Harald zur Hausen (1936- )

Awarded the Prize “for his discovery of human papilloma viruses causing cervical cancer.”

Harald zur Hausen who was born on March 11, 1936 in Gelsenkirchen, Province of Westphalia is a German virologist. He sutdied medicine in the University of Bonn, University of Hamburg Dusseldorf He received his MD from University of Düsseldorf in 1960. He was professor at the University of Würzburg, President of the German Cancer Research Center Chief Editor of International Journal of Cancer.
