Kenichi Fukui (1918-1998)
Awarded the Prize “for his theories, developed independently, concerning the course of chemical reactions.”
Japanese chemist. Fukui was born in Nara, Japan on October 4, 1918. He entered Kyoto University received a Ph.D. in 1948. He was Professor of Physical Chemistry at Kyoto from 1951 to 1982 was president of the Kyoto Institute of Technology from 1982 to 1988. Fukui died in Kyoto on January 9, 1998.
