Donald J. Cram (1919-2001)

Awarded the Prize “for his development use of molecules with structure-specific interactions of high ivity.”

American chemist. Cram was born in Chester, Vermont on April 22, 1919. He was educated at the University of Nebraska at Harvard, where he completed his Ph.D. in 1947. He moved immediately to the University of California, Los Angeles, where he served as Professor of Chemistry from 1956 until 1995. He was a member of the National Academy of Sciences American Academy of Arts Sciences. Cram died on June 17, 2001 in Palm Desert, California.
