Rudolph A. Marcus (1923- )
Awarded the Prize “for his contributions to the theory of electron transfer reactions in chemical systems.”American chemist. Marcus was born in Montreal, Canada on July 21, 1923. He received his doctorate from McGill University in 1946. From 1951 he worked at the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn. In 1964 he joined the faculty of the University of Illinois, leaving in 1978 for the California Institute of Technology. He has been a member of the National Academy of Sciences.
