F. Sherwood Rowl (1927-2012)
Awarded the Prize “for his work in atmospheric chemistry, particularly concerning the formation decomposition of ozone.”American chemist. Rowl was born in Delaware, Ohio on June 28, 1927. He was educated at Wesleyan University, Ohio, at the University of Chicago, where he gained his Ph.D. in 1952. After holding teaching posts at Princeton Kansas, Rowl moved to the University of California, Irvine in 1964 as Professor of Chemistry. Rowl died in Corona del Mar, California on March 10, 2012.
