Robert F. Curl, Jr. (1933-2022)

Awarded the Prize “for his discovery of fullerenes.”

American chemist. Curl was born in Alice, Texas on August 23, 1933. He was educated at Rice University, the University of California, Berkeley, where he gained his Ph.D. in 1957. He has remained at Rice University from 1958 until today as Professor of Chemistry. Dr. Curl passed away on July 3, 2022 in Houston, USA.
