Paul D. Boyer (1918-2018)

Awarded the Prize “for his elucidation of the enzymatic mechanism underlying the synthesis of adenosine triphosphate (ATP).”

American biochemist. Boyer was born at Provo, Utah on July 31, 1918. He was educated at Brigham Young University at the University of Wisconsin where he gained his Ph.D. in 1943. He then taught at the universities of Wisconsin, Stanford, Minnesota before being appointed Professor of Biochemistry at the University of California at Los Angeles in 1963. Boyer died on June 2, 2018 in Los Angeles, California, USA.
