Alan G. MacDiarmid (1927-2007)

Awarded the Prize “for the discovery development of conductive polymers.”

American chemist. MacDiarmid was born in Masterton in New Zeal on April 14, 1927. After obtaining his Ph.D. degree at University of Wisconsin in 1953, he joined the faculty of the University of Pennsylvania in 1955, where he was named Blanchard Professor of Chemistry in 1988. MacDiarmid died on February 7, 2007 in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania.
