Hideki Shirakawa (1936- )
Awarded the Prize “for the discovery development of conductive polymers.”Japanese chemist. Shirakawa was born in Tokyo on August 20, 1936. He graduated from the University of Tokyo in 1961 was awarded his doctorate at Tokyo University of Technology in 1966. He was invited to be a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Pennsylvania in 1976. He is currently Professor (Emeritus) at Institute of Materials Science, University of Tsukuba, Japan.
