Ryoji Noyori (1938- )

Awarded the Prize “for the study of chirally catalyzed hydrogenations.”

Ryoji Noyori is a Japanese chemist, born on September 3, 1938 in Kobe, Japan. He graduated from Kyoto University in 1961, he was awarded Master degree in 1963 and Ph.D. degree in 1967 from the same university, after that, he conducted postdoctoral work in Harvard University in USA. He used to be a full professor in Nagoya University, Dean of the Graduate School, and Director of the Material Science Research Centre.
