Yves Chauvin (1930-2015)

Awarded the Prize “for his work in the area of olefin metathesis.”

Chauvin was a French Chemist who was born on 10th of October 1930 in Menin (Menen in Flemish) in Western Flers, on the border between Belgium and France. He received his degree from the Lyon School of Chemistry, Physics Electronics in 1954. He was honorary chief research director at the Institut français du pétrole and a member of the French Academy of Science. Chauvin died on 27 January 2015 in Tours, France.
