Martin Chalfie (1947- )

Awarded the Prize “for the discovery development of the green fluorescent protein (GFP).”

He is an American Neurobiologist who was born on 15th of January 1947 in Chicago, Illinois USA. He received his Ph.D. of Neurobiology in 1977 from Harvard University. He is currently a Professor of Biological Sciences at Columbia University where he is also chair of the Department of Biological Sciences.
