Venkatraman Ramakrishnan (1952- )

Awarded the Prize “for studies of the structure function of the ribosome.”

Venkatraman Ramakrishnan is an Indian-born American structural biologist who was born in Chidamabaram Tamil Nadu India in 1952. He graduated from the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda with Bachelor of Science in Physics in 1971. He then obtained his Ph.D. in Physics from Ohio University in 1976. He currently works at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge, UK.
