Ada E. Yonath (1939- )

Awarded the Prize “for studies of the structure function of the ribosome.”

Ada E. Yonath is an Israeli Crystallographer who was born on 22nd of June 1939 in Jerusalem Israel. She graduated from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem with a bachelors degree in chemistry in 1962, a s degree in biochemistry in 1964. In 1968, she earned a Ph.D. in X-Ray crystallography at the Weizmann Institute of Science. She is the current director of the Helen Milton A. Kimmelman Center for Biomolecular Structure Assembly of the Weizmann Institute of Science.
