
Rudolf Ludwig Mössbauer (1929-2011)
Awarded the Prize “for his researches concerning the resonance absorption of gamma radiation and his discovery in this connection of the effect which bears his name.”German physicist. Mösbauer was born in Munich on January 31, 1929. From the Technical University in Munich, he obtained degrees of bachelor in 1953, master in 1955 and doctor in1958. He was scientific assistant and Professor at the Technical University in Munich and professor of physics at the California Institute of Technology. Mösbauer died on September 14, 2011 in Grünwald, Munich, Germany.
