
Johannes Hans Daniel Jensen (1907-1973)
Awarded the Prize “for his discoveries concerning nuclear shell structure.”German Physicist. Jensen was born in Hamburg on June 25, 1907. He obtained his Ph.D. in 1932 D.Sc. in 1936 in the University of Hamburg. In 1949 he was appointed Professor at the University of Heidelberg. He was Visiting Professor at the University of Wisconsin, the Institute of Advanced Study in Princeton, the University of California at Berkeley, the California Institute of Technology, the Indiana University, the University of Minnesota, the University of California at La Jolla. Jensen died on February 11, 1973 at Heidelberg.
