
Aleksandr Mikhailovich Prokhorov (1916-2002)
Awarded the Prize “for the fundamental work in the field of quantum electronics, which has led to the construction of oscillators amplifiers based on the maser-laser principle.”Soviet physicist. Prokhorov was born on July 11, 1916 at Atherton Australia. He graduated from the Physics Department of the Leningrad State University. He was Head of the Laboratory Oscillations of the P.N. Lebedev Physical Institute Professor of the Moscow State University Vice-President of URSL. Prokhorov died on January 8, 2002 in Moscow, Russia.
