
Sin-Itiro Tomonaga (1906-1979)
Awarded the Prize “for his fundamental work in quantum electrodynamics, with deep-ploughing consequences for the physics of elementary particles.”Japanese theoretical physicist. Tomonaga was born on March 31, 1906 in Tokyo, Japan. He graduated from Kyoto University in 1929 obtained his doctorate from Tokyo University in 1939. He was Professor President of Tokyo Educational University. Tomonaga died in Tokyo, Japan on July 8, 1979.
