Richard P. Feynman (1918-1988)

Awarded the Prize “for his fundamental work in quantum electrodynamics, with deep-ploughing consequences for the physics of elementary particles.”

American theoretical physicist. Feynman was born in New York on May 11, 1918. He graduated from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In 1942, he completed his Ph.D. at Princeton University. He moved to Los Alamos to work on the Manhattan Project in 1943. He was Professor of Physics at Cornell University California Institute of Technology. He was a member of the National Academy of Sciences. Feynman died on February 15, 1988 at Los Angeles.
