
Louis Eugène Félix Néel (1904-2000)
warded the Prize “for the fundamental work discoveries concerning antiferromagnetism ferrimagnetism which have led to important applications in solid state physics.”French physicist. Néel was born at Lyons, France on November 22, 1904. He graduated from Ecole Normale Superieure obtained the degree of Doctor of Science in 1932. He was Professor at the University of Strasbourg the University of Grenoble. He was Director of the Grenoble Polytechnic Institute Director of the Center for Nuclear Studies. He was a member of the French Academy of Sciences, the Royal Society in London American Academy of Arts Sciences. Néel died on November 17, 2000 at Brive-Corrèze, France.
