Brian David Josephson (1940- )

Awarded the Prize “for his theoretical predictions of the properties of a supercurrent through a tunnel barrier, in particular those phenomena which are generally known as the Josephson effects.”

British physicist. Josephson was born in Cardiff, Wales on January 4, 1940. He received his B.A. in 1960 his Ph.D. in 1964 both from Cambridge University. He was Assistant Director of Research Reader of Cambridge University. He is a member of the Royal Society.
