
Antony Hewish (1924-2021)
Awarded the Prize “for his pioneering research in radio astrophysics: Ryle for his observations inventions, in particular of the aperture synthesis technique, Hewish for his decisive role in the discovery of pulsars.”British radio astronomer. Hewish was born in Fowey, Cornwall, Engl on May 11, 1924. He graduated in 1948 completed his Ph.D. in 1952 from the University of Cambridge where he has enjoyed Professorship, he worked at the Mullard Radioastronomy Observatory at Cambridge in 1967. Hewish died on September 13, 2021.
