Ben Roy Mottelson (1926-2022 )

Awarded the Prize “for the discovery of the connection between collective motion particle motion in atomic nucleus based on this connection.”

Danish physicist. Mottelson was born in Chicago on July 9, 1926. In 1947 he graduated from Purdue University in 1950 he received his Ph.D. from Harvard University. He became a Danish citizen in 1973. He accepted a fellowship at the Niels Bohr Institute of Theoretical Physics in Copenhagen was Professor of Nordic Institute for Theoretical Atomic Physics in Copenhagen. Ben Roy Mottelson died on May 13, 2022 in Copenhagen, Denmark.
