Burton Richter (1931-2018)

Awarded the Prize “for his pioneering work in the discovery of a heavy elementary particle of a new kind.”

American physicist. Richter was born in Brooklyn, New York City on March 22, 1931. He graduated in 1952 obtained his Ph.D. in 1956, both from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was Professor of Stanford University. He was a member of the National Academy of Sciences. Richter died on July 18, 2018 in Stanford, California, USA.
