Philip Warren Anderson (1923-2020)

Awarded the Prize “for his fundamental theoretical investigations of the electronic structure of magnetic disordered systems.”

American physicist. Anderson was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on December 13, 1923. He was educated at Harvard University where he got his B.A. in 1943, his M.A. in 1947 his Ph.D. in 1949. He was once the Director of the Department of Theoretical Physics the Chairman of the Advisory Board of AT & T Bell. He was Joseph Henry Professor of Physics in Princeton University. He was a member of the National Academy of Sciences American Academy of Arts Sciences. Anderson died on March 29, 2020 in Princeton, NJ, USA.
