
Klaus von Klitzing (1943- )
Awarded the Prize “for the discovery of the quantized Hall effect.”German physicist. Klitzing was born on June 28, 1943 in Schroda (now in Pol). In 1969 he graduated from the Technical University of Braunschweig in 1972 was awarded his Ph.D. at University of Würzburg. He once worked at the Clarendon Laboratory, Oxford High Magnetic Field Laboratory, Grenoble. He became professor at the Technical University, München in 1980 has been Director at the Max Planck Institute for Solid State Physics, Stuttgart.
