
Russell A. Hulse (1950- )
Awarded the Prize “for the discovery of a new type of pulsar, a discovery that has opened up new possibilities for the study of gravitation.”American astrophysicist. Hulse was born in New York City on November 28, 1950. In 1963 he entered the Bronx High School of Science in 1966 went to Cooper Union College. In 1975, Hulse obtained his Ph.D. at the University of Massachusetts. In 1977 Hulse moved to Princeton, aboned astronomy, began to work at the Plasma Physics Laboratory. He is a member of American Physical Society American Astronomical Society.
