
Bertram N. Brockhouse (1918-2003)
Awarded the Prize “for pioneering contributions to the development of neutron scattering techniques for studies of condensed matter, for the development of neutron spectroscopy.”Canadian physicist. Brockhouse was born in Lethbridge, Alberta on July 15, 1918. He gained his Ph.D. from the University of Toronto in 1950. He worked initially with the Atomic Energy Commission of Canada at the Chalk River Nuclear Laboratory, Ontario. In 1962 he moved to McMaster University, where he served as Professor Director of Department of Physics. Brockhouse died in Hamilton, Canada on October 13, 2003.
