Martin L. Perl (1927-2014)

Awarded the Prize “for pioneering experimental contributions to lepton physics, for the discovery of the tau lepton.”

American physicist. Perl was born in New York City on June 24, 1927. He graduated in chemistry in 1948 at the Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute. In 1955 he was awarded his Ph.D. from Columbia University. He was Professor of the University of Michigan, Stanford University, and a member of the national Academy of Sciences. Perl died on September 30, 2014 in Palo Alto, CA, USA.
